Nata a Lecco fra il lago e le montagne, la sua passione per la fotografia cresce nei viaggi con il padre in Africa e a cavallo delle infinite steppe asiatiche. Studia in Italia e negli Stati Uniti, a Milano frequenta l’Istituto Italiano di Fotografia e si laurea in Scienze della Comunicazione con una tesi in semiotica della Fotografia di Reportage. Seguono viaggi solitari che la porteranno ad attraversare prima tutta l’Asia centrale, quindi Cina e Pakistan, via terra da Pechino a Islamabad. Matilde was born between the lake and the mountains in Lecco (Italy) and her photography generated far away, riding horses with her father through the infinite Asian steppe. She studied both in Italy and in the United States; attended the Italian Institute for Photography in Milan, and has a master degree in Communication Sciences with a publication in Semiotics of the Documentary Photography.
As a free-lance documentary photographer, she mainly focuses on Asia and geopolitics from the people's point of view. Her work on the modern Silk Road was published by Luni publishing and ICOO Institute in 2017. She is Editor in Chief at Witness Journal magazine and currently based in Milan.
